Disclaimer:
For
a very long period of time in Italy there have not been "official"
charts. FIMI, Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana (the equivalent
of RIAA in U.S.A), has adopted them only since few years. So, while in
U.S.A the official charts are the ones from "Billboard" magazine,
in Italy there were many charts, none official, and sometimes they were
all different between each of them... So it has been not very easy to
compile the Gibb's Italian charts history. These charts positions are
the results of the data research from the main reliable charts sources
in Italy: the magazines "Musica e Dischi", and "TV
Sorrisi e Canzoni", the national television channel RAI (Radio
Televisione Italiana), and some books concerning the chart history
in Italy. In some cases, when there's not corrispondence in the data coming
from the different sources, the chart position is the exact result of
the arithmetic mean. Maybe there are some little imprecisions , due to
the lack of official sources. The Airplay chart is based on an inquiry
concerning the most airplayed Gibb songs since 1976, the year in which
ended the monopoly of the National radio channel (RAI). This inquiry required
a lot of time (September 1999/ March 2000), and it was realized contacting
by e-mail and fax the following major radio national networks: Radio
Deejay, Radio Dimensione Suono, RTL, Rai Stereo Uno, Rai Stereo Due, Radio
Monte Carlo, Radio Capital, Kiss Kiss Radio, Rete 105. The waste of
time was due to the not very quick replies by the radios...
