La colonna sonora del film-documentario "Artic Tale", distribuito dalla Paramount e realizzato in collaborazione con National Geographic, conterrà una delle due canzoni inedite che Barry Gibb rese disponibili solo su iTunes lo scorso anno.
Si tratta di "Underworld", (l'altra era "Dr. Mann"), che sarà dunque pubblicata per la prima volta su CD.
Il film, che esordirà nelle sale USA il prossimo 25 luglio, è realizzato dallo stesso team del documentario la "Marcia dei Pinguini", che nel 2005 riscosse anche in Italia un buon riscontro, accompagnato da una brillante narrazione di Fiorello.

July 16, 2007 - On July 31st, 2007 Bulletproof Records will release Arctic Tale: Music From And Inspired By The Motion Picture, the soundtrack to the new National Geographic film opening in theaters on July 25th.

E' l'afffermazione più interessante rilasciata nel corso della chat con i fans tenuta da Barry Gibb lo scorso 15 giugno. Nel corso dell'incotro virtuale tenutosi su www.barrygibb.com, l'artista ha anche dichiarato che ha intenzione di realizzare un tour mondiale.
"In questo momento mi piacerebbe fare un tour mondiale, ed il mio piano è di riformare la band originale (Dennis Bryon, Blue Weaver ed Alan Kendall) per dei concerti da tenere tra la primavera e l'estate dell'anno prossimo. Ci vogliamo bene e ne abbiamo parlato tutti. Sarebbe un grande divertimento."
Alla domanda di un fan sull'eventualità che Robin prenda parte a tale progetto, Barry ha risposto: "Sto cercando di darvi risposte serie, davvero non sono in grado di dirlo..."
Barry ha pure detto che era nervoso durante la recente esibizione ad "American Idol" , "perchè avevo bisogno di provare a me stesso mentalmente ed emozionalmente che esibirmi è qualcosa che ancora voglio fare. Mi è davvero piaciuto cantare dopo tutto questo tempo" Barry ha acennato anche al fatto di essere stato molto sotto pressione durante l'operazione "American Idol", per la grande popolarità dello show, ma anche a causa di qualcuno che non lo voleva nel cast. Tuttavia Barry ha detto di considerare favorevolmente la sua esperienza.
Per quel che riguarda il suo futuro immediato, oltre a sottolineare che nessuno lo ha coinvolto nei piani per l'anniversario di "Saturday Night Fever", ha precisato di non potere confermare una data (nemmeno provvisioria) per l'uscita del suo nuovo album country, che a questo punto pare slittare al 2008.

Robin Gibb è stato nominato presidente del CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers), importante oganizzazione internazionale fondata nel 1926 , che rappresenta oltre due milioni e mezzo di artisti in tutto il mondo, che operano nei settori della musica, della letteratura e delle arti audiovisive e grafiche.

Bee Gee Robin Gibb says he plans to campaign for a change to copyright laws on behalf of musicians in the UK.
Currently, performers in the UK receive royalty payments for 50 years, at which point their work goes out of copyright.
"Artists should be getting royalties for the records that they make for life," Gibb told the BBC News website.
The singer has just been made President of CISAC, a body representing creative artists around the world. Film director Alfonso Cuaron became Vice-President.
"I've been a songwriter since I was 8 years old," said Gibb. "I want to champion the rights of all those people who aren't getting a fair share from their creative work."

The 57-year-old said the Bee Gees had experienced several periods in their career where they did not control their music - including hits like Massachusetts and Jive Talkin'.
The singer said he wanted to make sure other artists did not suffer a similar fate.
"We were lucky because we had some good people working on our behalf, but the reality is that many do not," he said.
"There are still many major writers who still don't own their catalogue.
"It's a moral issue that people should get a bigger piece of the pie."
Gibb said his plans included creating a record label for UK artists, giving them easier access to digital download stores like iTunes.

It recommended extending the copyright term for sound recordings to at least 70 years, allowing performers to benefit from their early works throughout their lifetime.

It indirectly represents 2.5m artists worldwide.

BMI staged its 55th Annual Pop Awards on May 15, honoring the Bee Gees as Pop Icons.
A highlight of the ceremony was the musical tribute to legendary singing trio the Bee Gees.
The brothers Gibb were honored as BMI Icons for their “unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.” Accepting the awards were Barry and Robin Gibb, and Yvonne Gibb, wife of the late Maurice Gibb.
The tribute saw American Idol finalist Katharine McPhee perform “Immortality,” Bebe Winans singing a medley of “Nights on Broadway” and “How Deep Is Your Love” and Kelly Rowland performing “Emotion.”
The musical partnership of Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb has produced some of the most timeless songs ever written, including “Night Fever,” “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart,” “Staying Alive,” “I Started a Joke,” “How Deep Is Your Love,” “Jive Talkin,” “You Should Be Dancing” and “Run To Me.”

Barry Gibb ha cantato dal vivo "To love somebody" ad American Idol, il più popolare show televisivo attualmente in onda negli USA. Le due puntate dello spettacolo dedicate alla musica dei Bee Gees (andate in onda su Fox martedì 8 maggio, la serata delle esibizioni dei concorrenti e mercoledì 9 maggio, esibizione di Barry e risultati) hanno vinto la gara dell'audience statunitense, con una media di oltre 21 milioni di ascoltatori, sorpassando nettamente gli altri programmi.

"To love somebody" era stata una delle otto canzoni dei fratelli Gibb scelte dai concorrenti in gara nel popolare show, che consiste in una gara canora a tema. Il tema di questa settimana (la settimana prima della finalissima) era appunto la musica dei Gibb, nel senso che i concorrenti dovevano scegliere due canzoni dal vasto catalogo dei Gibb da proporre dal vivo durante lo spettacolo, con la consulenza eccellente da parte di uno degli autori delle canzoni (appunto Barry). Le scelte dei concorrenti sono cadute su "Love you inside out" e "How can you mend a broken heart" da parte di Melinda Doolittle, "You should be dancing" e "This is where I came in" di Blake Lewis, "To love somebody" e "Woman in love" di Jordin Sparks e "Stayin'alive" e "Run to me" di Lakisha Jones. Barry , seppure molto gentile e attento nei riguardi di tutti e quattro i concorrenti, non ha nascosto tuttavia la sua ammirazione (e forse preferenza) nei confronti della versione di "To love somebody" della Sparks, che in effetti (guarda tutti i video delle canzoni su youtube.com) è sembrata la migliore delle otto esibizioni.

La celebre trasmissione USA "American Idol" ha trasmesso un video di Stayin'alive" che vede tra i protagonisti molte stars del cinema, dello sport e della TV cimentarsi nel mimare e/o ballare la celebre canzone dei Bee Gees.
L'iniziativa è a fini di beneficienza, nel contesto del progetto "Idol gives back", che raccoglie fondi per i bambini in stato di estrema povertà in Africa e nelle Americhe.
Fra le celebrità: Hugh Grant, Gwyneth Paltrow, Hugh Laurie (Dr. House) ed alcuni personaggi di famose serie televisive come "Friends" e "Desperate Housevives".

Sarebbe in lavorazione un documentario che vede protagonisti Barry e Robin Gibb dedicato al trentesimo anniversario della pubblicazione di "Saturday Night Fever".
Secondo quanto viene riportato nel sito della regista Victory Tischler-Blue e nel sito della "Sacred Dogs Entertainment", il documentario è realizzato in collaborazione con la Warner Bros Records (che detiene il controllo della Rhino Records, che gestisce le ri-pubblicazioni di tutto il catalogo dei Bee Gees).
Il video potrebbe far parte dell'edizione speciale remasterizzata di "Saturday Night Fever" che la Rhino si appresta a pubblicare in giugno.
Nel documentario sarebbe contenuto un video di Robin e Barry girato nel maggio del 2006 allo "Honky Chateau", lo studio di registrazione in Francia (all'interno castello dii Herouville) dove i Bee Gees crearono e registrarono le celebri canzoni inserite nella colonna sonora di che trattasi.
